Today I had my usual breakfast of bacon and cheese on toast, with coffee. Since I have the day off, I took a drive to nearby Sheboygan and went to Evergreen Park. There I took a long walk in the park,
contemplating the beauty of nature...
The woods and fresh snow was beautiful, only a quiet breeze. I was the only soul in the whole park area. How odd ? Don't people enjoy the beauty of the woods and nature and take advantage of this fine day ? But I was here in the wooded park, so God's glory did not go to waste that day. On my way back home towards West Bend, I drove past Mink Creek. Oddly the posted name of the creek and the beauty of the day inspired me to write a poem I call "Beyond Mink Creek."
The Jonestown Suicide in Guyana is still in the news. I just remembered tonight that Represenative Leo Ryan, (California) was one of the slain, who was a close friend of my friend Patricia Hearst. She must feel terribly depressed, considering all she's been through, after being abducted by the SLA a terrorist organization, (Symbionese Liberation Army). Which the FBI at 'the time' early 70s, had little information on, as usual slow on intelligence a few steps behind. I telephoned Western Union, sending Miss Hearst my sincere condolences for the death of U.S. Congressman Leo Ryan.
I hoped that my concern would help her from slipping into an even further depression. I feel one of the prison guards by the name of "Bernie" is taking questionable advantage of her vulnerability, in short a "gigolo", putting a wedge between us...
As standard 'State Correctional Directives' prohibit a correctional officer from getting 'romantically' involved with a prisoner, a termination offense.
A 'off record' journal entry from Mr. Temme's book "Minstrel Poet" Dorrance (1979).
