Note: The author's statements are based on "fact" not brag, with some spice "thrown in" for his "Memoirs" to be published around 2031 or so...

I had just returned from my "European Tour" in July of  1977. Now back in Wisconsin i called my former Kohler shift supervisor "Glen Eppers" at Kohler Company, which specialize in plumbing ware fixtures, well Glen wanted  me back on his shift, enameling 250 pound cast iron bathtubs, and bathroom sinks. Upon my return, he met met me in the Kohler Company employment office, to "ensure" i was put back on his shift, Glen apparently had a "higher opinion" of my enameling abilities than i had of myself... My only "negative" feelings were dealing with some of my co-workers, such as "bird legs" Jim-bo, and the "fat boy" a  hostile union steward on my shift, and the chubby "dumb farmer" Roger Zorn from Kiel... for i elected to go "non union". In general, Kohler Company was a good company to work for, i was well liked by management, and the "rabbit" my shift union represenative, cause i worked with him on some of the furnaces occasionally and he knew, i could "put out" 40 or more tubs a shift with some sweat, considered the "best" as the average enamel furnace put out an average 30 tubs, give or take. Even though i left a year later to work for the West Bend Company, in West Bend, Wisconsin i held no resentment, working for the West Bend Company, well that is another story to be told...

During this time frame, i also worked for "Pinkerton's Security Service" part-time. My former field sergeant "Burton Marqwardt" was glad to have me back on-board again. My first assignments were in the "industrial security sector" I, was being well trained by the "best" in the security business...

Note: Any person versed in American history, knows that "Pinkerton's Security Service" (aka) "Pinkerton's National Detective Agency" was founded by Allan Pinkerton in  the1850's hired by the Lincoln Administration had eventually discovered a plot to murder President Abraham Lincoln in the year (1861). Later, during the American Civil War, Mr. Pinkerton was appointed by President Lincoln to organize the (new) United States Bureau of "Secret Service".
Again, forward in time, Pinkerton's detective agency was instrumental in capturing the notorious "Wild West's" Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid...

Note: Mr. Temme's famous Smith & Wesson .357 Combat Magnum Revolver (Model No. 19) Serial No. AJL6071.
Is available for purchase. This is the revolver Mr. Temme always carried before and during the first Gulf War, and afterwards...

Journal Entry June 11, 2006...President Bush Letter

Today after reviewing my received mail, i opened a letter from the White House, a letter from President Bush. In the letter dated June 5, 2006, the President thanked me for my support and views on the Middle East conditions, as i had faxed the White House a few weeks earlier giving him my support and offered suggestions on the war in Iraq... In the President's letter, the President ended the letter by stating,
"Laura and I send our best wishes. May God bless you, and may God continue to bless America."
I was pleased that the President took the time to write me back, as he has many great responsibilities...

Journal Entry/November 21, 1979 (President Ford Letter)

After reviewing my weeks received mail, i opened a letter from former President Gerald Ford dated November 15, 1979. In the letter to me, the  former President started the letter stating,

Dear Mr. Temme:

"I have limited my criticism of the new administration (Carter Administration) as a courtesy to my successor." The letter went on and criticized President Carter for for his delaying production of the new land-based MX mobile missile program for a critical 2 1/2 year period." President Ford stated in his letter, continuing...
"The MX missile is designed to protect our land-based ICBM nuclear force from a surprise Soviet attack and this delay seriously jeopardizes our future ability to maintain strategic balance with the Soviets."...
(Quotes from President Ford U.S. President)

The letter also complained about "other" (national security matters) that President Carter was neglecting according to President Ford in his letter to me, I truly respected President Ford and in spirit agreed with the former President...

Other parts of letter remain "secret classified" by ASC

Senator Ted Kennedy Dies... Log Entry

Today on the "net" i read a news story that Senator Edward Kennedy had passed away yesterday evening, his brother Robert (Bobby) was assasinated in early June of 1968, i still remember that day well, i believe Robert would have been the "better" President all around, now America can move forward, the Kennedy Dynasty is now history... People often forget, that it was Robert who advised President Kennedy, with his advise to the President to youse "restraint" during the Cuban Missile Crisis of October of 1962, Robert's advise may have saved the world from nuclear destruction... In the papers the press echoed "Camelot's Fading Light" upon Ted's death, in reality "Camelot" was only a myth created by the press, President John F. Kennedy in his short term accomplished nothing politically, except forever alienating our neighbor Cuba, and setting the stage for the disasterous Vietnam War...

"The Starving Time" (Winter 1961-62) Flashback...

I remember the cold bitter Wisconsin winter of 1961-62, that particular winter was exceptionally cold. At the Catholic school i attended in Johnsburg in the Wisconsin countryside, that winter was almost always sub-zero weather. The Catholic nuns who were also our teachers, always made the school children stay outside for the hour long noon recess, my fingers often were on the verge of "frostbite", but the nuns i guess believed that "freezing" purged the soul of evil temptations... On the family farm where i lived, that winter there was a shortage of field mice, our barn cats were starving. I remember my older sister Sharon was often "pleading" with our mother to spare some extra milk for the poor cats. But our mother who was also a "Nazi sympathizer" would often with a evil laugh say, "let those dam cats catch mice or starve." That winter our barn cats starved to death...
Our mother Alexia Schneider, was always discordant, trying to turn us children "against" our father Elmer and his father Roland, who were both good men... We always had enough milk, even with us children mother was harsh and violent, if me or my brother Dan spilt a glass of milk at the dinner table it was a "assured beating" if she could "catch us", we did'nt wait around to find out, when she did, with each blow of mother's belt buckle upon upon the flesh of my back i became "enamored" vowing to fight evil,  mother's cruel "nasty nature" left us children speechless... In 1979 as mother layed dying on her death bed, a burnt out shell of of a human being, my sister Jean "pleaded" for me to visit her, i reluctantly obliged, and it was like looking evil in the face, as mother was "still" unrepentant and arrogant with me. If what the nuns taught me about the fires of hell is true, mother is there now, burning...

"Farm Terror"/Flashback Summer 1961...

Back on my family farm outside of Johnsburg in the countryside in Wisconsin, i remember two consecutive times of terror inflicted upon my younger brother Daniel and myself... In the late afternoon one summer day, my brother Dan and me helped ourselves to two potatoes from the sack of potatoes our mother (Alexia Schneider) kept in the basement stairway, we wanted to make "toy turkeys"... As young farm boys often do, Danny being around 7 years old, and i a little over 8 year of age, as farm boys often make do with whats available, so we made toy turkeys with the potatoes. First by taking a raw potatoe and sticking discarded chicken feathers in the potatoe's rump section and using sticks for its legs and a corn cob section for the head, thus a turkey. Later our mother that evening saw our work and went "ballistic" raving mad that we had destroyed two potatoes from her sack of potatoes. Well she started to cuss us out, coming at us with the look of murder in her eyes, like we had destroyed the last two potatoes in a famine, before she could catch us we both took off, ran and hid in the back barn area where we stayed well into the night in fear of a beating. Around 1:30 a.m in the morning, after she was asleep, we snuck back to our room in our house by crawling in through a open window, as the 'bitch" had locked us out of the house.

Before dawn we both woke before mother, for fear of retaliation of a beating, together going back to the barn to the hay loft storage area second floor of the barn. As we entered the machine storage area we saw a scruffy looking tramp crawling out from under the 'hay combine machine', he came at us with a large knife saying he was going to cut us good, chasing us in circles. My brother and me were terrified as the homicidal tramp came after us, and i, making split second life/death decisions,  yelled to my brother Dan to run back down stairs but first i had to unsecure the dragging stairway door. After opening the stairwell door, i yelled at the tramp while he was chasing Dan in circles, Dan was having problems "out running" the mad man with the knife, so i cursed at the tramp, then the tramp started to chase me, then i yelled to Dan to run downstairs, but Dan in his panic pulled the stairwell door shut as he exited, as it often dragged on the floor, i feared Dan in his hurry may have "cooked my goose" but after my brother Dan was "safely" out of harms way, i too ran, but first reopening the dragging door, i managed to get it open in time, then ran down the barn stairway back to the house informing my older sisters of what had happened, at first they questioned our story, until our family dog a german shepherd  named "Brauser" (afterwards) us now back in the hay barn, "Brauser" picked up the tramps "scent" under the hay combine, then our sisters believed us somewhat. In spite of having a (sometimes) violent and abusive mother, and occasionally being chased by knife carrying homicidal tramps in the barn, my brother and myself both had a happy and somewhat normal childhood...

                      "Memoirs" September 1960 (Johnsburg, Wisconsin)

It was my younger brother Dan's first day of school, i being in second grade Dan in first. That morning we started the school day by attending morning mass, as it was a Catholic school.
Dan and me marched up to the church on the hill, "side by side" in column formation with our other classmates. Dan was excited that morning about the "new environment" of school. Dan was cute, looked alot like "Opie" of the famed TV, Andy Griffith show of the early 1960s...
 I always watched over Dan...

Through most of our adult life, unfortunately Dan "avoided" contact with me as his brother, overcome by our mother's "dark side"...

                                        The Well Incident...

In the fall of 1960 around November, my father Elmer while checking our farms well that cold November day which already had ice on the well's concrete platform. As i was home sick  from school that day that afternoon, while father who was checking the well sub-pump in the cold, fell over into the well. I watching from the window of our kitchen viewing this, told my mother, "father fell into the well" at first mother resisted, but i was 'dertermined' insisting father needed help, she  finally obliged, going out into the cold checking on father, sure enough he had fell into the well, she helped father out of the the well, into the house, he had a few cracked ribs per the family doctor's visit afterwards, but was "ok", i was relieved, most likely by my observence i saved father's life that day...

I was never thanked by my parents for "most  likely" saving father's life that day. But that was "ok", because he was my father...
